I read the USPSA rule book today because I wanted to participate in the Production class and found out that Magwells aren’t allowed. that’s really funny because Magwells are allowed in the ESP division. As stated in the IDPA Rulebook :
PERMITTED Modifications (Inclusive list):
13. Beveled magazine well and add-on well extensions.
BUT, in USPSA’s Rulebook :
— No magwell attachments or external flaring of the magwell. The lateral width of the well may not be more than 1/4”
wider than the lateral width of the magazine.
Isn’t it funny that this restriction applies to a sport that is seen to be more “realistic” (IDPA) than USPSA. You’d think that in a normal concealed scenario, operators won’t be using magwells which will hinder concealment.
Oh well, off with it then! here’s how it was when I installed the Pistolgear Operator Magwell (that is IDPA legal) :
and now :
Small problem. I’ll practice reloading without it then!
