Paracord is one of those ingenious inventions that is both useful and practical. It’s built originally for use as suspension lines for US parachutes. It’s very strong and have also been used by space shuttle astronauts in space. Why 550? because it’s rated to hold up to 550lbs of weight on one cord.
These days, lots of people are using paracord to make useful things like bracelets, slings, keychains etc. They serve a dual purpose. For instance, if you’re ever caught in the wilderness or when in need of some rope, you can quickly dismantle your paracord bracelet and have a good 6’ worth of paracord.
I bought a few 100ft bundles of 550 Paracord from SupplyCaptain :
They even have neon colors like Pink : (I’m getting my daughter to learn how to make some too)
Then followed some instructions online and made some bracelets. Here are some tools you need :
(Paracord, Buckles, Lighter or torch for melting the ends, cutter or blade)
here’s a great blog about making Paracord stuff : http://stormdrane.blogspot.com/
I followed their instructions and made a huge crown sinnet paracord bracelet :
Now to make more useful everyday stuff with Paracord. They also suggest that you use Paracord as your shoelaces if you spend a lot of time outdoors. 🙂
