Solid A Class

So I shot the recent Renton RFCG match and it turned out to be a 6 stage classifier match. I came in wanting to stretch myself and shoot fast and aggressively but somehow the stress of knowing that it’s a classifier match, working as a Range Officer and picking up brass, I was mentally unprepared. I shot each stage just “hoping” my rounds will land where they supposed to be, instead of actually shooting!

After getting the results, and a local GM and good friend told me that I scored the following percentages for these classifiers :

So three A and one M performance. Looks like I made A Class legit-ly. Next time I shoot a classifier, I’ll take sometime to prepare and practice shooting the stage in my mind repeatedly. then Attack the stage aggressively!

Clean your extractor channels

Ever since I got my Open Gun, I’ve been cleaning it religiously. The first time I cleaned it, I detail stripped it and cleaned every little thing I could. After that time, I’ve only “field” stripped and cleaned the gun to a shine. I’ve never bothered to remove the extractor to clean it or it’s channel.

After the last match this Sunday, I decided to remove the extractor and clean it just in case I start to develop extraction problems.

The extractor itself isn’t too dirty, but look at how frigging dirty the extractor channel is? I drove a cue tip in to clean it and this came out.

And that small black bit next to my slide? that’s from the channel too. I’ve only shot maybe, 1,500 rounds through the gun after the first detail strip?

So remember to clean the extractor channel from time to time, especially in Open Guns. One failure to feed or extract will cost you to lose the stage.

Made A in USPSA.

Just got notice that I got to A Class in USPSA for Open.

I was shooting for GM obviously but landed in A. I guess I should be happy. that said, this is 4 out of 7 classifications. The next one I shoot will make it 8 so it’ll take the best 6 instead of best 4. I think then I’ll drop back to B as one of my classifiers is a 65+%.

Time to practice and dry fire more. I’ll be gunning for the top as fast as I can.
