USPSA Local Match @ Renton Fish & Game Club

Shot a fun match at my home range today. Despite all my “pains” and “injuries” I did somewhat decently. I have to stop tanking stages and get more consistency. Also took the opportunity to test a new 170mm magazine by mbxextreme.com. It worked flawlessly. I never did get to try 30 rounds in the magazine. I started 6 stages at this local match with the MBX Extreme magazine and as you can see no issues so far. I’ll do more tests with it and find an opportunity to try 30+1 one day.

As usual, the squad I shot with did not skimp on providing laughter. Thanks guys for a great time!

MBXExtreme 170mm Magazine Review

I recently found out that there was a company who’s making 170mm magazines that is purported to be able to fit 30 rounds of 9mm ammo so I decided to purchase one to give it a try.

Company is called MBXExtreme.com and they currently have four models of magazines 170/140 in 9mm and 140mm in 40S&W and 140mm in 45ACP.

According to the website, the 140mm 9mm magazines can hold 24 rounds and 170mm can hold 29-30 rounds.

As you can see from the video, I could fit 30 rounds in the magazine but not without some help. I think it’ll get better after “breaking in” the springs.

It is still not very clear to me how beneficial 30+1 rounds would be for me as most stages are around 30-32 rounds max especially with the stress that it puts on my grip. Perhaps it would be most beneficial if it was 31+1 for a maximum of 32rounds in the magazine.

I have a match coming up in a few days, I’ll take it out for a spin and report back with another video.

2015 Inland Empire Sectional Match Video

Here it is. Just got back from this really fun match. Had a great time with good traveling buddies. The guys and gals in the squad were fun to shoot with too.

I shot so-so-ish as I did not actively push myself to go fast or do well. I mentally took this match as good alone/vacation time away from family and work. That sort of manifested in how I shot as well, like I was on vacation 🙂

A shooting buddy of mine told me a few times while video-ing me, he said “Loke, I’ve never seen you move and shoot this slowly before. what’s wrong?”. I was on vacation that’s why. Looks like I need to speed things up and actively compete.

So, next match, my hair will be on fire!
