Finally got out of the house after the Snowmageddon hit the Seattle area the past two weeks. Lots of slush left which made things dicey but it was really good to get to shoot. We had the Northwest Section 2018 awards ceremony right after this match and I came home with 3rd place overall Open division and $50 🙂
My first USPSA match of 2017 after a looooong break of no shooting and no dry-firing. Was super cold, super wet and one of those matches that kept everyone asking why they’re out there feeling miserable. That said, there were some really fun stages including one that had all 1/2 sized targets, now that it is legal to use in Level One matches. Those are hard to shoot at! Thanks again to the PB crew for keeping the range open throughout winter.
Paul Bunyan Rifle Club ran their annual Toys-4-Tots charity match again this Sunday. It is an outlaw USPSA-styled match that raised $1,300 in cash for kids. Always great to be out shooting for a good cause.
The November Charity Match run by the DownZero crew is a yearly match to promote the awareness of Prostate Cancer. They combine the USPSA stage design principles but with IDPA scoring. It’s a fun match for a good cause. If you’re male above the age of 40, go get a yearly exam and start tracking your PSA levels. Early detection is the key to survival.
As for my match performance, well, watch the video. Some mistakes here and there but the biggest match breaker for me was my death jam on Stage 5. Sucks when a stuck case comes visiting. That’s my 3rd stuck case in my years of shooting.
Headed down to Albany, Oregon to shoot the 2016 Columbia Cascades Sectional Level II match at the fabulous Albany Rifle Club. Managed to squeak in a 3rd place finish with lots of abruptness and hesitation in my shooting. Did not feel smooth at all except for one stage. I think my shooting platform is weak while moving, so I know what I’m going to work on for the next few weeks. That said, I thought my steel work was awesome! Thanks to Jemy for taking video of me from other angles.
‘Twas a great battle in the Open Division today. Nick and I were back to back till the very end where a malfunction cost me the possibility of the match win. Great technical stages that I haven’t seen before which makes it a ton of fun. Hope to shoot more stages like this in the future.
What an amazing day to shoot, sun was up, wasn’t too hot, great stages and lots of snacks/coffee. It’s the series or points match held at the Renton Fish and Game Club. Had a momentary lapse in match mode but did well mostly. Came away with a match win. Thanks to everyone at DownZero for setting up this match!
