We’ve been recording and releasing episodes for the PowerFactor show for almost 7 months now, mostly using our own savings and time from the hosts, Steve & Rick. The only complaint we’ve been receiving so far is the audio quality. The recording equipment we have is a cheapass wireless microphone system from China. It has served us well but recently we’ve been plagued by disconnecting issues resulting in bad audio quality.
Ever since we’ve posted a Donate button on our website, we’ve been receiving a number of donations from loyal listeners who really want to support us and the show. Obviously the first thing we do with these donations, is to buy audio recording equipment to help fix the problem.
We bought two Olympus VN-8100PC audio recorders which are really small and handy.
Not only is the audio quality really good, it is also a self contained unit with built in memory. You can easily plug in it into a PC using USB and copy the WMA or MP3 files out for editing.
It is really very portable, so Steve and Rick can just dump the recorder into their pocket anywhere they are and talk away. We don’t have to lug around the wireless mics, receivers and a laptop like we used to do.
We also bought two matching noise cancelling Olympus ME-15 lapel microphones .
The recorders also come with a really handy and cute neoprene case to keep it safe :
Looking forward to recording more episodes with these recorders and raise the overall quality of the show. Thanks guys!
