Loved the faux ivory grips on my Kimber Eclipse Pro II that I decided to get a pair for my CDP Elite II. I figured it’ll look really nice against a matte black frame + slide.
Bought these excellent (and yet cheap) plastic grips from Duragrips.com
and after the grips are put on :
When I bought the 625 JM, it didn’t come with the stock original wooden grips so I placed an order online through Jerry’s company Bang, Inc and got it pretty quick. It’s supposed to provide a smoother and flexible purchase on the gun during fast shooting.
Here’s the 625 with the Hogue rubber grips and Jerry’s competition grips side by side about to be installed.
Installation is a snap, just remove the old grips, swap out the stirrups and slide the new grips over.
I do need to go test this grip out to see if I’ll like it. Hope I don’t fumble because of how smooth the grips feel.
After seeing Victor’s blazingly fast reloads at the recent match, I decided to pop some cash onto a more serious Magwell for my Kimber. I’ve been using the excellent Smith & Alexander Magwell for a year now and it has worked well for me, but this one is MUCHO bigger.
the TechWell SP Magwell System comes with matching grips that are fitted to hold the Techwell in place.
The grips are made by Alumagrips which provides a mean surface to hold on to. It works really well, actually better than my VZGrips Aliens.
Here’s how my Kimber IDPA/Single Stack gun looks like now. Fanschy huh?
Shot a classifier match today and came back home to clean the gun, decided to detail strip it for a thorough cleaning. I haven’t done this since I bought the gun 10months ago.
OMG! That thing is frigging dirty! Why haven’t I done this before? I’ve clean by gun after every time I shoot it and look at how dirty it is on the inside:
The extractor, firing pin, firing pin spring and slide:
Under the grips :
The Sear and disconnector:
After removing the Sear, Disconnector and Firing pin block lifter:
The trigger is super dirty. eesh!
Look how grimy the inside is :
Even the small area under the leaf spring is full of lint :
Gross. I’ve since cleaned the entire gun and feel so much better. If you haven’t detailed stripped your 1911, you should do it right now!
