Paul Bunyan Rifle Club runs a Toys for Tots match every year to support the Toys for Tots Foundation. This year they raised $1,511 in cash and a ton of unwrapped toys for kids. Find out more about this awesome charitable foundation at http://www.toysfortots.org
Arrun and I decided to switch divisions for one match. He’ll shoot my Open gun and I’ll shoot his Glock 17 in Production Minor. Everything went well except for when my c-more red-dot module broke one of it’s “pins”. Wasn’t sure why it broke but it worked intermittently and Arrun had a hard time shooting it. We finally figured it out later in the match by using a small ball of aluminum foil to maintain the contact points.
Apart from that, I had a blast shooting production, that front sight is easy to find but aligning the rear sight is a chore. I’ll stick with Open for a while more.
After my previous disastrous matches, I made it a point to do some dry-fire practice at home. It paid off, that and the weather played a part too, it was beautiful and warm. Only thing about this match was the horrible last stage where I lost 40 match points just on that one stage alone. It basically screwed up a match win.
After missing a number of matches, I got to take my Open gun out for a spin finally. It was freakishly cold and wet but I didn’t care. Came in 3rd overall because I screwed up two stages royally with 2 mikes each. Anyway, till next match!

and a side by side with TimR, Master class :
Here’s the latest video from the match this past Sunday. Decided to slow down a little and get my hits instead of going to quick that I throw points away. Did decently, but still unhappy. I think I can do better than this. I was really happy with the plate rack on Stage 2, unfortunately I got carried away and missed the 6th plate or it would have been AWESOME!
Came in 3rd overall.
First match in 2012. It’s been a while since I shot a match, so trigger finger is still freezing up. Overall, was fun!
Took 4th overall in this small match. Most of the top shooters were at the Area 2 Championships in Phoenix, AZ. I shot pretty badly due to a combination of factors but the main problem was my head wasn’t in it. Rushing too many of my shots, didn’t get a good grip etc. etc.
Anyway, here’s the match video, enjoy!
