Thanks to my buddy Dave who sent me a gift card for Brownells.com for my 40th birthday. I bought a holster that would fit my Ruger Mark III called the Black Max Holster. Unfortunately there isn’t enough space up to to accommodate my rail for my red dot.
Out comes the Dremel, the cutting tool and after an hour of poor Dremel handling skills, I managed to cut open a slot to allow the rails to slot into the holster.
I need to polish up my Dremel skills I know, but it works!! 🙂
Decided to break out my cheapass spring operated Airsoft FAMAS rifle, attached the equally cheap Barska Red Dot Scope and shot some BBs at my cheapass target. I think the total cost of all three things, including the BBs is less than $100 including tax. The rifle is so cheap the scope mount is loose and you have to pull the charging handle for each shot. no Gas blowback or battery powered AEG wonders here!
Anyway, here are some pics :

Tried shooting groups at this empty box just below my self repeating target. I shot from across the garage from my door, probably 15ft.
So how did you spend your cheapass time? 🙂
Before I sent my XD(m) to Powder River Precision for upgrades (Dawson Front sights, Mag Release and competition trigger job), I read a very interesting post on the XDtalk.com forums that talk about using cheap “gems” from hobby stores on the sights. I was skeptical at first, but since it’s so cheap, and that I’m going to send my gun in to get the Dawson sights installed anyway, decided to go to Ben Franklin to buy some cheap “gems” and glue them on the sights.
here’s how it looks like with the light behind you :
Pretty good huh? 🙂
