Finally back shooting after a long break.
[excuses] I found out during the match that I don’t do well in cold rainy weather, my hands get all cold and beaten up. Got my thumb cut on something, left middle finger pinched during a reload, slide bite (for the first time) and thumb hit the racker.
At every major match I attend, the ROs will call me “Lo-ki” so for this year’s Trigger Treat, I decide to shoot as… Loki from the Marvel Universe. Halloween hosefests are super fun especially when it’s held after the Nationals and you can release some steam and just blast away.
My Father’s Day present, to be able to go off for the weekend and shoot the 2016 Inland Empire Sectional Championships. It was a fun 9+1 stage Level 2 match shot at the Rattlesnake Shooting Facility in Benton City. I couldn’t engage match mode for a few stages and I paid dearly in penalties. Still managed to edge out 3rd Open. Thanks to everyone who setup this match every year, I’ll be back!.
What a fun and furiously fast match today. My total time for the entire match was 48 seconds! None of the stages were over 10 seconds. I still have match mode focus going which is great. Worked on transitioning and shooting faster which I did but had some extra shots here and there which should be eliminated. Just need to keep working on improving transition speed and shooting earlier.
I did wear my Mono Vision contact lens pair today and it worked well. It was a little disorienting in the beginning but it was great during shooting.
Oh finally. I told myself after my dismal performance last week to focus on my dot and it paid off. Came out of the match with an Overall win. I finally understand what it means to have dot patience. call every shot and not worry about speed. The only two mikes were when I got lazy, need to not do that next time.
I guess this is my match mode. Got to keep it up.
Shot a fun match today at Paul Bunyan during the Valentine’s Day Blitz match. I thought my performance was ok, I still need to get more consistent with my execution. I had the same raw time as the match winner but I was sloppier with my hits and had two mikes. Must… be… more… disciplined.

My first match of 2016 and it was a fun one. The stages were elaborate and fun to shoot, all except that blasted classifier. It’s almost impossible to consciously shoot 100% in it. You have to be hosing like crazy and hope it hits. My run only yielded me a 63%, and 77% if I didn’t get that one mike.
Apart from that, I’m lacking some dot discipline especially while moving. Oh and a note to self, don’t snag fault line “ropes” with your holster anymore.
Thanks for a great match Dave and crew!
